Schools Reserve Now for Student Harvest Days October 4

Campton Hills, IL: Schools should reserve now Friday October 4th, from 9 am -1pm for a field trip to Student Harvest Days at Garfield Farm & Inn Museum.

This annual event held since 1982 offers teachers in one morning what would take a week of class room relating how Illinois’ farming, history and the environment all come together at this 1840s living history farm.

Volunteers and staff demonstrate historic farm and household skills of the mid-19th century in this 366 acre setting with two historic houses, eight barns and outbuildings with a collection of historic breeds of livestock and poultry.

The morning includes tours of the 1846 brick inn and farm house that Timothy and Harriet Garfield and their 8 children from Vermont established on the Illinois prairie. A tour of the prairie is included and frost will determine the status of the antique flower garden and field crops.

Homeschool families should also call for reservations. There is a $5 donation per person and space is limited. The general public is invited to attend on Sunday October 6 from 11:30 am - 4 pm and entrance is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 13 years.

To make reservations call 630 584-8485 or e-mail info@garfieldfarm.org. Garfield Farm Museum is located at 2N930 Garfield Road, 5 miles west of Geneva, IL off IL Rt. 38 in Campton Hills.
