Volunteers Needed for October Harvest Days

The new schedule for Garfield Farm Museum's Harvest Days will be Saturday and Sunday October 2 and 3, 2004.

Volunteers are needed to help fill the 100 plus positions between 11:30 am and 4:00 pm.

This 23rd annual event demonstrates the future of Garfield Farm Museum when it is fully restored as an 1840s working farm. During Harvest Days, various historic household and farm chore demonstrations portray the different kinds of work that will be undertaken when the museum is completed.

Volunteers to help with the demonstrations, to give tours of the 1846 inn, to interpret the prairie, gardens and historic breeds of farm animals are critical to make the event a fun and educational day for the many visitors. Period musicians are also welcome. Help is also needed to provide logistics such as set up and clean up, providing directions and information, parking, hosting the bake sale, and supporting the volunteers as needed.

All volunteers are invited to the museum's annual volunteer party in November. To help or for information about the event contact the museum at 630 584-8485 or email info@garfieldfarm.org.
